Coastal Youth Ballet Theatre (CYBT) is a non-profit 501 (C)(3) dance organization dedicated to the cultural enrichment of the entire Grand Strand through education, outreach performances and scholarship programs. Founded by Liza Mata in 2006, Coastal Youth Ballet Theatre provides a nurturing but intensive artistic home base to some of South Carolina's most talented young dancers. From Day One, it has been envisioned to become one of the Palmetto State's most vibrant and accomplished student ballet companies. Coastal Youth Ballet Theatre features its own company members and faculty as well as guest teachers, choreographers and dancers who have received critical acclaim for their work. Valuing classical ballet masterpieces but with an eye on contemporary choreographies, CYBT aims to present a repertoire of classical ballets such as The Nutcracker, Paquita, Sleeping Beauty, Coppelia, Swan Lake, Giselle, and Don Quixote, as well as an annual Spring Festival of Dances that showcases classical, contemporary, jazz and tap repertoire. Despite its comparative youth, Coastal Youth Ballet Theatre has already experienced tremendous artistic growth. Significant accomplishments by members are quickly enhancing the Company's strong reputation for high artistic standards. Just recently, CYBT was awarded as the best non-profit business by the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce for the work that it does for children and the Grand Strand community. |
